Helon is one of the oldest Realms in Mellus which corresponds to the Vishlum being some of the oldest inhabitants of Mellus as well. Despite rumors of the superstitious and the ignorant, the Vishlum of Helon are not blood-sucking monsters – that is the Kashtilum, who are sworn enemies of the Vishlum. Nor would the Vishlum wish to see the Living of Mellus (Zi-Gal) wiped out. A perfect world for the Vishlum is one of peace and tranquility, where all of the Living can spend their days in calm and passive working of the land and tending of the flocks – safe, healthy and secure.

However there are those among the Living for whom violence and fierce independence is a way of life. This attitude runs counter to the Vishlum plan for Mellus. Consequently steps must be taken to ‘pacify’ or ‘domesticate’ the Living of Mellus and turn them into the proper residents for a world of peace.

The Vishlum are normally a peaceful people and are not overly aggressive – being immortal, they tend to take the long view in most matters. But they can act with ruthless efficiency and brutal effectiveness when they deem it necessary. Honor and justice are highly regarded traits in Helon society and it is a constant annoyance that other Realms
